HAIR: TREND ALERT

Hi people!
Happy new month!!! Hope it has been great so far. Mine has been well more or less stressful. I know I haven't posted anything in a while, it's cause I've been super busy with school besides exams are starting in less than a week and I haven't really had the time to post anything. The great part though is that I'll be going back home in less than a month. My first meal will probably be Amala omg how I miss that. Plus I never get to eat meat here in Ghana so I'll eat loads of that too ugh and snails and everything!!!  Lol it's funny how much I'm craving these things more than I do when I'm actually home..  Well, I wouldn't want to drag you guys into my fantasies so I'll just go the point. I dunno if you guys have noticed or if it's even a trend but I've seen more people on cornrows this year than I've ever seen. And I'm not talking about the famous 'Ghana weaving' but the normal cornrows Lol I feel like I'm blabbing right now but I'll post some pictures so you guys can actually see what I mean and I bet you've also seen it on a few people too.

This is by far my favourite because of the zig zag

    Tonto dike looking fabulous

   Tyty baybee😘

I love this too. I intended to do this last
year but I changed my mind for some
reason. Then just some few weeks
ago I decided to do it again, only not
exactly this exact time but since I got
my side shave it appears it's not
growing. Now I believe my mum when
she said my hair grows longer at the
    back than in the front...

    Cute😻

Are Isabel Marant Shoes still Fashionable?

Hi Guys!!
It's a new month... I hope this month has been great for you. It has for me... and this my mum's month :D it's just sad I won't be home to eat all the food :(
Okay, a few months ago, precisely January, my brother got me a pair of black leather and sequin wedge sneakers. My first thought was are these still fashionable?  I don't follow trends, yet I didn't want to be seen wearing shoes that were not fashionable anymore..

I think it's really cool that you can dress casually with a little bit of heel added to it. So, yes if you ask me, I think isabel marant is amazing for those gorgeous sneakers she designed. They are both super comfy and fashionable. I'm certain it'll still be fashionable for a couple of more years. BTW, I want them to stay because... well, I love them.

If tthere's one person I know that is totally in love with them wedge sneakers (and sneakers generally) its our very own Eva!

So, yes if you still have your wedge sneakers at home and thinking of ditching them, I suggest you shouldn't because they aren't gone. They are here to stay *fingers crossed* forever. Ok I'm kidding but it wouldn't hurt to have them for a bit longer right?

Super Hair Rant

Hi Guys.

A few months ago, precisely two months ago I had a hair cut. Everyone advice me against it, even my mum. She told me I could trim my edges and get my hair back to its natural state and a
lot but I was just frustrated. I had braided my hair and for the first time I took my braids out in a saloon by a very unpatient woman. She took out my braids and didn't spend enough time separating and detailing the curls or even combing through them or something. I just hated my hair, so I decided to get a side shave because I didn't want to get a TWA cause of my forehead (or fivehead).

my hair was like that, only shorter at the back.

The problem was I really wasn't prepared for having my natural hair everyday. There were no weaves to cover it up with like I used to. Basically,  I wasn't prepared to start taking care of my hair. so right now, my hair is puffy and my splint ends are so obvious and I'm back where I started:frustrated.
I've being looking at pictures on pinterest, and some natural hair blogs and I just love what I see. I've decided to get over my fear of bearing my forehead and covering it up with full and side bangs all the time. I'm going to get a big chop and I'm going to start taking good care of my hair. You know, the washing, moisturizing (which is very important), the oils and deep conditioning and all the other stuff. So, whether your hair is long or short, natural or relaxed, you should really start taking care of it. There are really cool nigerian blogs that you can follow. (I checked out thekindandi today. You can Google it cause I dunno the full website address or you can just type in natural hair blogs by nigerians on google.... that should help).
Once I get the hair cut, I'll definitely post a picture of it and the products that work for me.
Happy Sunday!

Nail Art

Hi.
I'm not really a nail art lover. I hardly ever paint my nails. Reason is they start to chip off after about a week or two and I get too lazy to redo them. And we all know how ugly Chipping nail polish looks like.
Yesterday I decided to try the newspaper nail art and they didn't come out as nice as I wanted them to. Anyway, I'll just tell you guys how I went about it so you can try it. By the way, I feel like so lazy today. My school has succeeded in frustrating me...I have two quizzes on the same day, only 30 minutes apart and I can't stop thinking how I'll write both... I know that has absolutely nothing to do with nail art but I just had to share my problems :(

First, paint your nails and let it dry. I suggest you use white or grey, something like that. When your nails are completely dry, dip your finger into alcohol then cut a strip of newspaper big enough to cover your nail and place(or press against) on your alcohol soaked nail. Slowly, pull off the paper and coat it(your nail) with a transparent nail polish to give it a polished look. You can tell someone to help you with your left hand.

Finished look

The First Step

It's a Monday morning and I almost missed a quiz. The thing is I missed some classes and someone called me to tell me there was going to be a quiz blah blah blah but it was just a scare...
You probably already know that has nothing to do with my post this morning (or afternoon). There are so many things I want to do with my life and thinking about hem makes me happy. I go on and on in my head thinking about how wonderful it'll be to do this stuff in the long run but I never actually start. For example, writing. Writing was never really my thing until my last year in primary school (grade v) and everyone was making a big deal of my essay. Then in secondary school, my mums friend thought my stories were captivating... then I realized, maybe I was as good as people thought I was when it came to fiction writing. I wrote a book once, (and Trust me the struggle was real- I dunno how I finished) but that would have being like 50,000words or less and Trust me nobody was going to publish that (or maybe not).
I wasn't good at finishing stuff but at least I tried but these days things are looking different for me. I had an old blog that I ditched (obviously). This blog however represents a step for me to make changes. Read like I used to, study like I used to, take life seriously, becoming serious with what I want to do with my life because whether I want to believe it or not, I'm getting old (really I am).
I can't be alone in this (I hope I'm not) so if there are things that you loved doing or things that you should be doing and not doing, it's time for you to take a big (or baby) step and start doing those things again. I didn't proof read this because I have a class in an hour and I have to get ready and if I wait until I'm back to post this, err let's just say there won't be a post lol. Have a great week.

Prints x Prints

Hi darlings!
Hope you guys had a great weekend. This post is all about mixing prints. Some people still haven't gotten a hang of it. Mixing prints could be a little tricky and I suggest not going wild with it.
When mixing prints, you have to make sure the colours aren't clashing. I should write a post on mixing colours too... There's absolutely nothing wrong with mixing polka dots with polka dots, but you have to make sure the sizes are different.  You know, like mixing small polka dots with big ones.
I believe leopard print a can be mixed with any other print. One of my favorite ways to mix prints is mixing floats with stripes. The easiest colours to mix are black and white.

Choose prints in the same colour palette, making sure there is a connecting colour in both prints: I think this is the first thing to bear in mind when mixing prints because it guides you when picking the clothes you'll be mixing. As I said earlier, you have to take into consideration the size of the of the prints and mix opposite sizes.

Ps: mix just two prints. We don't want you going extreme.

Celebrity Style Crush

Hi Guys!
I know I've not been posting regularly but that's because I've been really busy. I promise once I'm back home, you all will have to beg me to stop.

                                                                   Rihanna
She's daring, sexy and I like to think she's the definition of perfection (err... ignore me, it's the love
Speaking). She knows what to wear and I how to rock it. I always love whatever she has on; from dresses to boyfriend jeans, to sneakers and boots, even her bikinis and her hair is just Perfect!

HER HAIR♥

NY FASHION WEEK

And this might be a little too daring, even for Rih.

                                                                    Blake lively
I loved her fashion in gossip girl and I love it in real life too.

Solange Knowles
First of, I love her hair. Her TWA and her box braids and her big hair. I love the fact that she has that African thing going on.

Cute bralet

Olivia sharpe Blois
Gone are the days when my girl was obsessed with animal print and Jet Black straight hair and the worst smokey eye anyone ever had. Not only has she become a much better person on jerseylicious, (gigi seems to be taking over) her fashion style has taken a significant turn positively. Tracy Dimarco still remains my favourite anytime!

Rita Dominic
OMG! She's simply amazing. I must confess I stalk her on IG and I just look at her pictures and I  fall in love with them. Her fashion sense is incredible and I don't think there's any other celebrity in nollywood that rocks whatever they have on like she does.

So i have five celebrity style crushes and it would end at that except, tthere's someone else that I really really love. She rocks everything effortlessly and so beautifully.
Cassandra Ikegbune

I really love her vintage skirts but I might never get to rock them except I get over my irrational fear of showing my legs (because I think they are too skinny). You can check out her blog HERE for more pictures.

Acne Be Gone!!!

Hi Guys!

Hope the past week has been great for you, mine hasn't been that great. My phone search is not looking good and I'm learning (the hard way) to survive without BBM. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, this week must not end without me getting a new phone.
Today, I'll tell you about some natural ways to get rid of acne. Naturally, my acne didn't bother me, not one bit. It was easy for me to cover it up with some foundation and go on with my day. The story, however has changed for me. Some two months ago, I had a hair cut and a side shave, I dunno why I did it but one thing I knew was I wasn't going to keep on fixing and braiding my hair as long as I was in ghana; and since I'm there 8 months out of 12, I decided to cut my hair. The main reason why I didn't want to do the big chop was because of my forehead or should I say 5head? But now, I've learnt to accept it the way it is and ignore people that decide to stare at it. The problem now is my acne. I don't want people to be drawn to all the pimples on my face especially my forehead so I decided to look for ways to treat my acne before I chop off the rest of my hair.

After applying some loose powder.

NATURAL WAYS TO GET RID OF ACNE

  •  Steam your face: boil some water and pour it into a bucket. Place your face over the bucket and cover your head with a towel so the steam doesn't escape. Do this for 3minutes (I don't do it for more than that). This would open your pores and make it easy to clean them. Some people suggest you use a facial cleanser but I don't use any of those anymore. What I just do is, after steaming my face, I wash my face twice with a good acne soap or one of those soaps that kill bacteria.
  • The next step is for you to to apply some tomatoes to the face. I haven't tried this but I know someone who has, not only did it clear her pimples and spots, it also made her skin lighter. She told me she mixed hers with cucumbers though. What she did was mash her cucumber and tomatoes together and apply it to her face and wash it off after 15minutes.
  • Another good natural way to clear your pimples is to use garlic. I won't suggest you eat them because of the smell. What you can do is mash some up, say four cloves and soak in water for 10 minutes. Then use a cotton wool to apply it to your face then wash off after 15mins. The water you mix with it should  be about two table spoons.
  • Applying four layers of egg white is also great. What you do is, separate the yolk from the the egg white and apply to your face. Apply again after the first application is dried up and repeat two other times.
  • Exfoliate atleast once every week with sugar and water, salt and water or baking soda and water.
  • Always use a different towel for your face and make sure you wash it every other day.
  • benzoyl peroxide: make sure you use acne cream that contains atleast 5% of this. moisturise your face and wash your face every night. You don't want your makeup blocking your pores.
  • To cover up your pores and reduce oil on your face, it is advisable to rub ice cubes on your face. Not only does it cover your pores it also reduces redness and pain.

My goal towards acne free face and super clear skin is on and nothing is going to stop me. I like the changes I'm seeing and I hope to see more. By the way, when I'm home, my face is completely acne free; and before starting this regime, my left cheek was totally acne and spot-free :D but once I'm back in school they just come rushing back :(. It's probably due to all the stress. I'm happy to say though, that my left cheek is still acne and spot free and I'm looking forward to that on my right cheek and the rest of my fac2!!! I hope this was helpful. Have a great Weekend!

DIY: distressed jeans

Hi Guys!
I know you must have seen this review over and over again but distressed jeans are still trendy so if you haven't this post is going to help you.
Personally, I've seen a few different ways to get the look; the first being the scissors method. For those that don't know what I'm referring to, it's the method where you have the places you want to cut with a tailors chalk. After doing that, you go ahead and cut the places you mark.
PS: you always have to wear your jeans and marketing the parts you want to cut so you know the exact places you want to cut and to avoid mistakes.
Then you use a pair of tweezers to pull on the white and blue threads until you get your desired look. Personally I don't like this method.

I went ahead and did some research and I found the best method for me.

WHAT YOU NEED

  1. A pair of old jeans
  2. Sandpaper
  3. X-actor knife
  4. Seam reaper/ a pair of tweezers
  5. Tailors chalk

You have to wear the jeans and marketing the places you want to sand with your chalk.
Then lay the jeans down on a flat surface and start to sand the marked areas. When  you are done
sanding, use the xacto knife to cut across the surfaces of the sanded area.
You'll most likely need a cardboard to put in between the jeans to avoid cutting across all the
way to the back...It's a necessary precaution.
Now you will use the seam reaper to pull on the white and blue threads to give it a finished and totally fabulous Look!

The scissors method is also good, you can try it if you can't get your hands on sandpaper and you'll totally love your result.
